This article explains the publication schedule for curriculum in APlay. It is written for subscribers asking when upcoming curriculum will appear in their account.

The Monthly Release Schedule

New curriculum is published on the first day of every month. Each monthly release is published two months ahead of the month the curriculum will actually be used. For example, on September 1 the November curriculum is published. This two-month lead time is intentional, so that teams have time to plan, assign, and prepare before the month begins.

Curriculum publishes on the first day of the month and does not move for weekends or holidays.

What publishes on the first of the month

The following content is published to APlay on the first day of every month, two months ahead:

All Service Builder scripts for every age group except Students.
All accompanying media for those services.
Amazing Kids curriculum.
Music, released into the Amazing Music module.
Every Child curriculum.
Volunteer resources, such as song trainings and preview videos that accompany the curriculum.

How media and music are attached to services

When services are published in Service Builder, the assets that go alongside those services are attached to them from the APlay library. Media such as shows, videos, and worship songs that live in APlay are connected to the corresponding service through Service Builder.

Music assets may already exist in the library before the service that uses them is published.

Common Variations and Exceptions

Students curriculum follows a different publishing schedule and is not published on the first day of the month. Because Students curriculum is sourced from several different partners, including Christ in Youth (CiY), it is uploaded multiple times throughout the month rather than in a single release. The Students team works to release at least one middle school curriculum series and one high school curriculum series at the beginning of each month, on the same cadence as all other curriculum products.

Hello Baby publishes monthly, but the content does not change. Hello Baby follows the same first-of-the-month cadence as everything else. New series and services for the month populate on the first, so Hello Baby appears in your monthly calendar schedule alongside the rest of that month's content. What differs is the media: Hello Baby content does not change month over month. The lesson is the same each month unless noted otherwise, which is why there is nothing to curate or wait on for Hello Baby.

Music may already be in the library. Because worship songs are reused across services, a song referenced by an upcoming service may already be present in APlay before that service publishes.

How to Confirm the Release Has Published

You will know the release has been published when you sign in to APlay on or after the first of the month and see the curriculum for the month two months ahead. For example, signing in on or after September 1 you will see November curriculum available, including Service Builder scripts, media, and music for that month.

If the first of the month has passed and the expected month is still not visible, confirm that the subscription is active and that you are looking two months ahead rather than at the next calendar month, which is the most common source of confusion.
